If the match is from the losers bracket, the loser of the match is eliminated from the tournament. When all matches are complete, the winning player goes up in the tournament bracket, and the loser is eliminated from the tournament in single elimination or he goes to losers bracker in double elimination.If the tournament is best 2/3 or best 3/5, then the losing player chooses the next stage.
